The Ivory Coast goal-machine seemed a certainty to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after expressing his dissatisfaction at Jose Mourinho’s enforced departure in September, with his ex boss now at Inter Milan said to be have been leading the race for his signature.
Chelsea are preparing to pull out all the stops to convince Drogba to extend his stay in west London, however, and their charm-offensive appears to be having the desired effect.
"Didier will take the next 10 days to decide," agent Thierno Seydi said in a recent interview with France Football.
"If nothing dramatic happens until then he'll remain at Chelsea and sign a new two year contract.
"He is not into the idea of training with Chelsea for a few days and then packing his bags.
"The reality of November is no longer the state of affairs today," Seydi added in reference to the furore Drogba felt over the dismissal of Mourinho.
"At that time Didier was really affected by the departure of Jose Mourinho, who he had a very close relationship with.
"But today, there is no reason not to be believe that he won't be staying at Chelsea." |
