Based on the format of qualification, the top 11 seeds from round one have received a direct bye to the third round. These teams are Bahrain, Uzbekistan, Kuwait, DPR Korea, China, Jordan, Qatar, Lebanon, Oman, UAE and Asian champions Iraq.
The bottom eight seeds will play in round two.
The second round will not be short of intriguing encounters as in the opening round which produced interesting results. Hong Kong have been paired with Central Asians Turkmenistan, while Syria clash with Indonesia. ASEAN champions Singapore take on AFC Challenge Cup champions Tajikistan while Thailand play Yemen.
The draw for the third round takes place in Durban, South Africa, on November 25, 2007. The five top seeds in Asia – Australia , Korea Republic , Saudi Arabia , Japan and Iran – join the qualification process in the third round.
