Justin Bieber came close to sparking a state of emergency in Norway after 49 fans were left injured during his appearance in Oslo.

The teen sensation initially caused a frenzy by offering free tickets to a show at the capital’s Opera House.

That resulted in hundreds of screaming teenie boppers descending on the harbour venue – to the dismay of the authorities.

But even after the gig the 18-year-old came close to upstaging this weekend’s Jubilee flotilla when he left the concert venue by boat – followed by dozens of fans in hired speedboats.

Bieber was obviously impressed by the James Bond-style chase and posted footage of the spectacle online.

Earlier Oslo mayor Fabian Stang had to call for reinforcements as 14 of the injured fans were taken to hospital in the stampede for tickets.

Even the pop star was forced to issue his own health and safety warning.

Biebs tweeted: ‘Norway – please listen to the police. I dont want anyone getting hurt. For the show to happen u must all listen to the police.

‘We are all concerned for your safety and i want what is best for u. please listen and tonight we will have some fun. love you and im excited to see you all.’

The chaos also had his manager Scooter Braun in a flap, as he tweeted: ‘The streets are filled…the bridges are closed. it is out of control. we may have to start the show early or they will cancel… Working very hard with the authorities 2 make sure the show happens.’

Mr Stang has ordered a full inquiry into events. ‘I have already called on the Emergency Planning Agency to examine the entire event from the planning stage to its implementation,’ he said. ‘We have to find out what went wrong and why it happened.’

He will be pleased to see the back of Bieber as his next stop is Paris. Luckily no one was seriously hurt in the mayhem.
